How to create shortcuts in Gnome

  • Right-click on your desktop and choose "Create Launcher..."
  • Enter the command of the application and choose a nice icon for it. See below for an example (we've created a shortcut for JSesh in this screenshot):


  • You can place this shortcut on your desktop or in the panel. If you want a shortcut in the Applications menu, you can create one in a similar way using Gnome's menu-editor, which can be found at "System" > "Preferences" > "Menu Layout". It is also possible to create a subcategory for all your egyptological applications, as shown below:
